“smart phone” is a stupid term that needs to die.
This is such an outdated term that is still in wide circulation. M ost phones are smart, the ones that aren’t are so rare and odd that you have to preface “phone” with “dumb” or “basic”..

I’m guessing you have little experience with the Orthodox Jewish community. Smart phone is still a useful description, and a needed one for some people.

I’d like a show of hands of Oppo’s readers who’ve actually used a rotary phone for daily use. Can’t be many.

Back in the early ‘70s we had a couple, including one illegal hookup with one dad found at a garage sale and wired in himself. This was in the days when you couldn't own your own phone and had to pay for every connection in the house.

I have a flip phone, my wife still had a slider until last year.
I generally call “smart phones” dumb boxes though.......

My grandparents still had theirs a few years ago, I’d used it many times.
It still worked perfectly when they switched to cordless house phones, they just got sick of my “techie” uncle constantly hounding them about it.

That’s what I call them when I remember to. My flip phone was a smart phone, my new touch screen is a pocket computer.
